Conclusion
On December 24, 2014 the world commemorated the 100th anniversary of John Muir's death. Although he lived so long ago, Muir is still influential today. Environmentalists and nature-lovers alike recognize how much the world is indebted to Muir for being able to enjoy the natural beauty of National Parks he helped establish through his wide-spread leadership. Today he is widely recognized as one of the pre-eminent figures in the history of the conservation movement. Through Muir's vision, the Sierra Club continues to promote the preservation and creation of natural reserves for forests, flora, and fauna around the globe.
